Nice, France moderate hotel recs?

I am unexpectedly travelling to Nice on a hastily planned vacation next week. Fortunately I see from an internet search that there is no shortage of hotels in the city, but I am hoping to find a decent place (in a tourist, not business area) that will cost under 100 euros. A nice pensione or 2 star hotel, perhaps? I am travelling by myself, and intend to use Nice as a base for exploring the riviera--but I don't want to stay in a dump.

I tried searching this forum for Nice hotels, and as you might imagine, the search results picked up every instance of the word "nice," which wasn't helpful.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Matt

I've stayed at the Flots d'Azure, which is right on the Promenade and about a 20 min. walk into town. The hotel was small and cozy and the price was around 70€ in 03.

The Flots d'Azur got pretty roundly trashed on tripadvisor. It must have deteriorated since your visit. Any other specific recommendations that are close to the heart of the action in Nice?

Thanks for that website, also.

That's really too bad it has gone down hill. It was a little on the quirky side when I was there, like a bathroom in a closet, but the view more than made up for it. My only complaint was the rather long walk to get into town and to the restaurants. The price was right and view was stunning.

Check the accorhotels.com site to see whether one of their Nice hotels has special offers for next week. The hotels are generally good and well located.

Hi,
Try the Windsor hotel. It is fun and a great location.

Try Grand Hotel le Florence - conveniently situated - not far from station and promenade. The single rooms are 70 - 105 Euros. Sure you will get it for 100.

I can strongly recommend this Hotel. We stayed there recently and will return whenever we can can go to Nice.
