New Gastrobus in La Rioja. Leave the driving to us!

Now this looks like fun. The tourist office is trying this Gastrobus tour of delicacies in the region. The tours are in Spanish and so far on the weekends. I could only find this in Spanish but some entity will soon translate it into English, I assume! dates and visits are fairly simple to decipher.

The very word "gastrobus" sounds either like an oxymoron or an unfortunate digestive eruption.

Hard to imagine enjoying being taken around winding roads with stops for wine and aromatic cheese and getting back on a bus for more winding roads, especially starting at 10:30 in the morning.

But it will probably be a hit with food tourists!

Oh yes -- this sounds grand to me. Foodie fantasies are tremendous incentives for travel. We drove around the Basque region and found ourselves stopping frequently just so DH (who was driving) could see the fantastic landscapes I (the navigator) was enjoying.
