Netherlands & Belgium Train/Restaurant Recs
Husband and I will be travelling to the netherlands and belgium to celebrate our second anniversary. flights and hotels are booked (big sigh of relief).
Day 1 Fly into Amsterdam depart for Maastricht
Day 2 Maastricht (Hotel Beaumont)
Day 3 Maastricht
Day 4 Quick trip to Brussels
Day 4 Ghent (Ghent River Hotel)
Day 5 Brugge (Oud Huis Amsterdam)
Day 6 Brugge
Day 7 Quick trip to Delft
Day 7 Amsterdam (Amsterdam American Hotel)
Day 8 Amsterdam
Day 9 Go home!!!
From the itinierary above, does it look like the Benelux 5 day pass will work?
Also, I need a swanky restaurant recommendation in Amsterdam - that's where we'll be for the actual anniversary. $$$ is not a concern, as we plan to stuff ourselves with street food so we can splurge on the anniversary!
thanks for your help!

HazedandConfused -
Do they have a three day BeNeLux pass?
Day 1 - Amsterdam to Maastricht
Day 2 - Maastricht to Ghent
Day 3 - Brugge to Amsterdam
Ghent St Pieters to Brugge is only a 20 minute ride and isn't worth putting on the rail pass. Perhaps point-to-point might be cheaper?
There's a website where you can put in your itinerary and it will tell you your best deal, either a rail pass or point-to-point tickets. Unfortunately I can't find the link on my list of travel favorites....maybe some one else can help? Peace

I can highly recommend de Silveren Spiegel on Kattegat for a special occasion. Visit the website at www.desilverenspiegel.com

If you're in the mood for another swanky dinner, try Den Dyver in Brugge...fantastic.

Arguably even better, although less well known, than Den Dijver, is Den Gouden Harynck. Despite being close to the Groeninge museum, it's down a little side street and attracts few tourists. Reservations required and it's not a jeans or ultra-casual clothes place.

Thanks for posting Den Gouden Harynck. I've never heard of it! I'm going to Brugge for Christmas and am looking forward to comparing it to Den Dyver - tough job, but I'm up to the challenge.

Beanweb, I believe it has a Michelin star. I'm going to have dinner there in August (going to Brussels to get my hair done, then spending the night at the Sofitel in Brugge) if they're not closed for a vacation (I haven't reserved a table yet). It attracts a mostly adult crowd, well dressed, and mostly Belgian, Dutch or French.

Sounds wonderful... I'll have 2 out of 3 (well dressed and adult) -- does living in Belgium as a baby count for "Belgian?" Probably not, but wishful thinking. If only my haircuts were as adventurous as yours! This will be our third weeklong trip to Brugge -- really looking forward to trying a new restaurant.
