Namur?

My mother-in-law wants to vist Namur when we go to Bruges and Brussels in the fall--that's where her ancestors are from. Do the trains go there? Are there any other nice towns to visit nearby? Thanks.

There are frequent trains to Namur; several per day. No advance purchase needed. Not my favorite place in Belgium, but it has a few interesting sights. I like the Jardins d'Annevoie, which are not that far away, and definitely worth a visit, even in the fall.

It is certainly worth a daytrip & is easily walkable. The train is also in an excellent location. Try www.trabel.com and you can find Namur under the 'other cities' category.

You may spent a day there, it is ok.
Namur is on the main train line between Brussels and Luxembourg: frequent connections, fast trains,.. no problem.
