Mud bath in Parnu, Estonia

We are considering a visit to Parnu and I saw in Lonely Planet a mention of mud baths at Parnu Mudaravila. Does anyone have any experience there? Choices, length of time, costs, etc.?

Those are Pärnu´s pages, and include spas. I have not been to Mudaravila, and I have not been to a mudbath because they are not recommended for people with high blood pressure. But I have been to Pärnu for "pampering weekends". It is known for its spas (and beuty parlous), and Mudaravila is not the only one, but it is the oldest. The prices are always reasonable, and you can have all kinds of treatments, not just mudbaths. I have had all kinds of massages, manicures, pedicures, aromatherapy, different beauty treatments, saltroom treatment, and so on. Very relaxing. And I always believe that I look better afterwards. True or not, even just believing sort of helps.

Anyway, mudbaths or not, Pärnu is a charming little town. Very enjoyable, particularly in summertime.

Just to sort of clarify what I meant I paste here a little poetical text from Pärnu spa pages:

"Pärnu exudes positive emotions. As soon as you let Pärnu in your system, you will feel stress loosen its grip and the cloud of worries will leave your forehead. A walk along the beach or in parks will freshen you up. Healthy diet will invigorate you. Dances at night will make you joyous. Attractively priced beauty care ranging from aromatherapy to cellulite treatment and plastic surgery will enhance the perfection in you. Massage and baths will soothe you. Having a sauna or swimming in a pool will relax you. The sun will recharge your batteries. Even your shrewdest friends will say, “Gosh, you do look great!”

Health Improvement

There are scores of doctors in Pärnu health rehabilitation centres – all of
them are balneology experts. The list of therapies is comprehensive; mud therapy, various massage methods and baths, laser and paraffin treatment are the most popular among them.

Since high-quality treatment, accommodation, and food are provided at reasonable prices, Pärnu has become a popular destination for thousands of neighbours of Estonia from the Nordic area.

They say a vacation is a commitment to oneself that cannot be shrunk away from without being punished."

So, it is sort of hedonistic place, but sometimes hedonism just feels so good.
