Most perfect location to stay in Barcelona?
Will spend 5-6 nights in Barcelona in early November. I can't tell exactly which area would be the best to base. Looks like upper part of Barri Gotic is most convenient. Any advice, suggestions? We would like an apartment under $200 per night that would sleep 2 persons if you have any recommendations we would appreciate hearing them.

There is no "perfect" location to stay in. It depends on personal preference.
Many people like the Barri Gotic/El Born area (older, narrow streets, hipper nightlife in El Born), and others prefer the Eixample area (more upscale, better shopping, closer to Gaudi buildings).
So long as you are in one of those areas and/or fairly close to Placa Catalunya, you will be fine.

I would agree with the above and disagree with Cheryllj's "no perfect location" notion since she just gave it to you.

Of course it depends on personal preference - it always does.
Thanks for your input. I mainly want a location where we can easily return to the apt. once during the day for a "rest" and conveniently head back out for exploring. Guess I was wondering if there were Fodorites who had a favorite apartment location and why they liked it so much.

Hi we just got back. We stayed in the Esparteria 1 booked through insideBCN it was in the El Born area, 100 euros a night. We loved this area. very vibrant, safe, great restaurants, museums ect all very close. I thought the Barri Gotic area was a little seedy. Some questionable people in some of the squares that made us feel uncomfortable. The Eixample area was nice as well but seemed more spread out for walking to restaurants ect.
