Monkey Forest
We have heard there is a place in France where monkies roam free and would like to find it. The name Lanede was mentioned and also mention of a monkey forest in Rocandour (Racamadour???). Anyone have any information on where this is located??? <BR> <BR>Thanks

I found out about the Foret des Singes while researching for a trip I'm organizing for this fall. It's briefly noted in various guidebooks in the "near Rocamadour" sections, but absolutely nothing about who, when or why. I found one website (in French) with the hours and a description...but no explanation other than "a recently established preserve". I'm still digging into the Net for more info for the tour, and if I run across any more on this peculiar place, I'll post. If not, I'll try to remember to post when I get back from the tour (believe me, I'll be hounding the "Accueil" people with questions).

The following URLs all mention a "monkey forest" or "monkey park" near Racamadour. They are all in English and may give you threads to follow or tourist offices to contact: <BR>http://204.73.77.37/lot/discover.html <BR>http://www.maison-de-la-france.com:8...ncenfants.html <BR>http://focusmm.com/france/fr_tu_32.htm <BR>http://www.bowhills.co.uk/lot.html <BR>http://www.fgtousa.org/activites/family3.htm <BR>
