I and some friends are thinking of going there. In our conversations, we are arguing about how to pronounce Molvania. Is the first "a" long, as in "play?" Or is it soft, as in "ah?" Or could it sound like the "a" in "cat?" No one wants to be embarrassed by mispronouncing the name when there. Can anyone help us?

Oh my dears, it's all so 5 minutes ago. Those in the know have been there and done that, complete with root canal options.
I believe it's "Mole-vay-knee-uh" unless you are from the southern part of the country, in which case, you most likely pronounce it "Mole-vaaaaay-knee-uh."

I bought the guidebook on Amazon and have been reading it before bed each night. OH what a tour I take in my dreams. It's on our list for 2007, and we'll probably go mid-winter to get the really cheap hotel deals.

My teeth are OK, I need your help about hotels and restaurants. What was your favourite drink? Do I have to take garlic or toilet paper with me? What kind of presents (or bribe)- for the Molvanians? Thank you Gaia

a bulletin from the book
MOLVANIA DISQUALIFIED FROM EUROVISION!
The tiny Eastern European republic of Molvania was disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest this year.
Zladko “Zlad” Vladcik was to perform his very popular techno-ballad, “Elektronik – Supersonik” - described as “a melodic fusion combining hot disco rhythms with cold war rhetoric”.
However, the 23-year-old singer was arrested at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport and immediately deported. While Eurovision does not normally test for recreational drugs, unfortunately for Vladcik, Turkish Customs do.
On his return, “Zlad” apologised to everyone in Molvania for letting them down, especially his family, his friends and his dealer.
