Mini Eiffel Towers

I am going to Paris and my sister wants me to bring her back an Eiffel Tower replica about a foot tall and made of metal. What is your favorite Eiffel Tower souvenir and how much did it cost you? Thanks, this is a fun site.

Eiffel Tower earrings--can't remember the cost--maybe $35 francs? But how can you put a price on something like that, anyway?

My friend Gayle is the Queen of cheesy souvenirs!! And believe it or not, SO FAR, the cheapest souvenir shops we've found so far are on the side street to the left of the Notre Dame (as you face the cathedral, it's to the left). She bought These little pens with Eiffel Tower pens hanging off of the tops. I think they were about a dollar or so. There are Eiffel Tower scarves there, too, for about $5-8.

I think I paid less than $7-8 (US)for an Eiffel Tower that is about 8" tall with a tiny removable french flag on top. My son got a tiny eiffel tower key chain which I think may have cost $2 or so. They are everywhere. I also found inexpensive souvenirs along the Rue de Rivoli near the Tulleries.

I was in Paris in Sept and I found the best priced souvenirs near Notre Dam. They have a lot of shops there and the best selection and best prices in the city. They are open on Sundays too. Have fun in Paris! I got my sister a large Eiffel Tower, close to a foot tall and it was around $9 and it said 2000 on the top of the tower.

I agree with the others who said the best souveniers are along the river near Notre Dame. I bought about ten mini eiffel towers ($1.25each) and gave them to co-workers, etc - people I would not have normally brought something to. Have one right here by my computer. They also have great gargoyles in that area.

Hi,

I bought some glass eiffel towers filled with multi-colored bath salts. Tacky, but the recipients loved them! Found them at a souvenir shop near the Bir-Hakeim (sp?) metro stop. They looked odd to the x-ray attendant as we went through the airport machines, and everyone got a good laugh as to what these possible dagger-objects actually were! I think the price was less than 50 FF.

Kathryn

I collected gold pendants and bought an E. Tower pendant. I paid about $80 and it's 18K. I also have pendants from Greece (the acropolis), Turkey (a turkish mosque), and Italy (the "boot"). I tried to get one in Spain but the pendant was tarnished and therefore, not gold. The salesperson kept telling me it was gold. Gold doesn't tarnish.

My friend Judy bought 3 key chains with the E. Tower from a vendor at the Notre Dame. They were .64 cents each (15FF for 3). I didn't buy any, but wish I had. My friend Dawn gave me one, so I'm happy!

I also bought 2 mini towers, one for my desk and one for my home. They're about 6-8" high. Glad I bought them!

I picked up several sizes from tiny to about 8 inches tall. They were very cheap just as everyone says. The combination of sizes makes a nice display on a table. I saw the idea in Pottery Barn (or some such) catalog last year. Needless to say, they were much more expensive in the catalog!!!

If you get back to the states without your eiffle tower, you can always buy one at the Paris casino in Las Vegas. That's what my sister had to do.

Two good areas for souvenirs are: the area around Notre Dame, and the Rue De Rivoli (stop at Angelina's for hot chocolate)

I am a dispatcher for a plumbing supply company in San Francisco. I am looking for souvienirs for my drivers...hence dashboard ornaments. I want to find 3+ can-can girls (or something relatively pairisian) in the tradition of the hawaiian hula dashboard girl. As you can guess, I have a twisted sense of humor and have no respect for the politically correct. Any help? Thanks

I've found that the best selection (and prices) for souvenirs in Paris are along the Quai between the Tour Eiffel and the Bir Hakeim metro stop. Everything imaginable is available, some of it "the usual" and many, many high quality, reasonably priced (we saw identical items all over Paris for several times the prices there), offerings. When shopping for a Tour Eiffel replica, be careful to select one with "detail".

But Marty, it's just not the same if you don't actually buy it in Paris!
