Did you go on Saturday? There are many pedestrian areas in the town with no traffic at all. The main street has been reduced to 1 lane on each side as well so that cuts down on the noise / pollution. I have never really noticed excessive pollution there however.

Aix did suffer during the absurdly long work on the Cours Mirabeau and the work created many traffic jams. Perhaps that is when you went? The work was finished a couple of years ago.

Do you know any private guides for Provence to meet our ship in April? We need a 4-5 hour tour.
