Luxembourg gardens in Paris

If you enjoy the Luxembourg gardens when you are in Paris, here is how the park looked today, with few tourists and not many more Parisians: http://tinyurl.com/nrxvew

It is my favorite time of year for the Luxembourg. Windy October and November days will also be fabulous.

kerouac,

We will be back in Paris in two weeks...Jardin is always a favorite stop. Thank you so much for sharing these lovely photos...you have brought it to us that much sooner.

There is something about Paris off-season that I find attractive, and your pics capture some of that.

Some people get a sugar buzz..you've given me a sweeter one, a Paris buzz.
Thanks, and keep posting "tourist" pics.

Wonderful, thank you. I have two lithographs by Harold Altman--one a winter scene in Luxembourg Gardens and one almost exactly like your second photo. Great shots. Wish I were there.

Lovely, kerouac, thank you!

Kerouac,

The photos are amazing! I will be in Paris in November (during the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday). I'm looking forward to walking through the gardens during that week.

Such beautiful photography Kerouac - glad you stopped to smell(?) the flowers! Oneday we will head to Paris in late September/ October to see the leaves change.
Thanks for taking a stroll through that touristy place!

There is so much color already. Looking out of my New England window, I hardly see any leaves turning yet. Thanks for the photos.

The shoulder seasons are magical in Paris. Thanks for the images.

Kerouac: You're awfully hard on Marie de Medicis though. She was a victim of family violence.

Great fun to see. As for the near-empty cafe, Noel Coward put it well:
(paraphrased from memory)
I am always arriving just after or just before the festival or the season or the national holiday ... it is most pleasant.

Lovely photos; I was in the Luxembourg in April, just as the flowers were beginning, so especially nice to see the perspective from the end of the season. Thank you.

Thanks Kerouac. Did Nice this year, but now yearning for Paris. Will be back in August.

yestravel Sep 21st, 2009 11:51 AM

wonderful photos!

kerouac Sep 21st, 2009 11:52 AM

I'm glad you all liked the photos. I will try to do more touristy photo reports from time to time, now that the main tourist season is finished. But I have to admit that I avoid those parts of town in the middle of summer.

Your pictures have made me yearn for our first fall trip to Paris next year (we've been 3 times, always in May). I am looking forward to different food, different atmosphere, different scenery, etc. Thank you for sharing, your pictures are always so appreciated.

Jo (btw, nice to see all the positive comments about your photos here as opposed to that other site!)
