Lucca: baggage check at train station?
Hello! I am hoping to stop in Lucca for a few hours on my way from Florence to Cinque Terre. Are any of you aware of a place to store my suitcase for a couple of hours? The guidebooks I have read say that there aren't any lockers/baggage check at the station. Any suggestions based on personal experience?I would hate to miss out on the chance to visit Lucca... Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi az,
According to Trenitalia, there is a left luggage office at the Lucca station.

Selfishly topping...
For those of you who have been to Lucca before - I will only have about two-three hours to explore the city. Is that enough time to walk through the historical center? Any highlights I shouldn't miss? Thank you...

Hi azure0327 - We rented bicycles and rode around the top of the wall. It is only about 2.5 miles so doesn't take long on a bike. We got off the train and walked over to the wall and turned right. We ended up walking almost all the way around Lucca before we found the bike rental shop. Go left, the bike shop will be much closer. We enjoyed the bike ride around the ramparts because there were beautiful trees and green grass. We needed a bit of change from "city life". We ate lunch at Le Salette at Piazza S. Maria 14 and it was one of our hightlight meals of our entire trip. We had an appetizer of shell fish including clams and mussels all cooked up with garlic and spices. We also had pomodores with mozzarella and pan and gnocchi with meat tomatoe sauce. Delicious. The restaurant is very close to the bike rental shop. The Duomo di San Martino was interesting because some of the arches inside were crumbling and they had braced it all up with beams and treen limbs. The Terre Guinigi is also interesting because it has an oak tree growing out of the top of it. Check out the Piazza del Mercato. It is hard to find so be sure you have a good map. We also rode our bikes through the middle of town but did have to dismount and walk quite a bit. Hope you have a pleasant day there, it was one of my favorite places.
