Loose thread

I've searched, but cannot find a thread I read a few weeks ago on good books to read while in Europe. Several books with settings in Europe were lsited. Can anyone else locate this? I'm interested in the books listed with Italian settings.

Well, Shari, I searched and couldn't find it either. So I'll repeat my recommendations, and some of the one's I remember. There's Colleen McCullough's series about the Roman Republic, starting with "The First Man in Rome", then "The Grass Crown", "Fortune's Favorite's", "Caesar's Women", and "Caesar". There are two separate series of detective stories that take place in Republican Rome, I've read Stephen Saylor's which are very good, and there are also some by Lindsay Davis. "The Agony and The Ecstacy" is the story of the life of Michaelangelo. Frances Mayes book "Under the Tuscan Sun" is a popular choice, and now has a sequel called "Bella Tuscany". Forster's "A Room with A View" is set in Florence.

I know there were lots more. Maybe a more determined search can turn up that thread?
