London Theater tickets

I've seen many references to sources for London theater tickets, but little is said about using Ticketmaster's international site. I've checked and they seem to have tickets available and you can see the seats that you're buying (unlike the case with some websites where you seem to be agreeing to pay a price for a type of seat, without seeing the actual seats before the purchase). Any experiences with using Ticketmaster international? Thanks for any insights you can share.

I have bought tickets through Ticketmaster when I planned ahead and knew I wanted to see a certain show that might not be available at TKTS. It worked just fine.

I've used Ticketmaster many times for tickets to London shows. Never once had a problem. Yes, you do pay a service charge, but no matter where you buy tickets these days (for anything, i.e. ballgames/concerts/shows) you pay a service charge.

We have always gotten very good seats too I might add.

If it is a show that one needs to pre-book (only a small % of the shows in London) and if it is one of the theatres where you can't call the theatre directly - then Ticketmaster is absolutely fine.

W/ the 10-10 numbers and really inexpensive international calls, phonimg the theatre is my preferred way to buy tix for the big hits. But when you call some theatres, the call is forwarded to Ticketmaster so in those cases I just use the website.

Four of us are going to London the last week of March. We would like to see Phantom of the Opera, Spamalot and The History Boys. Should we buy in advance or would any of these be available at TKTS?

Especially for Spamalot you need to book well in advance. And History Boys is popular too but seats may be available after you are in London. But neither show will be at TKTS.

Phantom is usually available at TKTS - but at 25% off instead of 1/2 price.

Thank you so much for all your replies. Now I'll know to book in advance and just live with the service fees!
