In Florence, there is a baggage left facility but I thought it to be fairly pricey, 4 Euro per day per large bag. This was in September. I have never seen lockers there.

Pisa had lockers but lockers were all closed thru-out Italy post 9-11.
~Jan '03 they put in a manned luggage storage area and a poster mentioned using it ~4 months ago.
It's at the Centrale Train Station alongside Track 1.
I posted directions in the past that might be useful, do a search on Pisa Daytrip Directions.
No 1st hand experience but for Siena try a google search on < Siena "piazza gramsci" luggage > That Piazza is an outdoor bus station and beneath it are the ticket and bus company offices. I have read that there is a luggage storage there in one of the businesses. Regards, Walter

Thanks. I have been able to getspecific information about the larger stations, however I'm still in the dark about the smaller ones. We travel with a backpack and 21" carryon. It just isn't convient to drag the carryon around town to sightsee.

I've rarely seen luggage storage in smaller Italian stations. there used to be but not much now. I was in Pisa Jan 2003 and though there was a luggage storage door on platform 1 it was closed and there was no sign that it would ever open - no hours - i asked station ticket window and they said none was available. So i wouldn't count on it unless you definitely ascertain it to be open, and then hope that it is open the day you arrive. Caio!

Thanks to Ira, I finally did find a "left-luggage situation" after muddling around the website (complete with music!! But alas, it was just for a few hours and very expensive at that. I need to leave a large bag there for several days.

We are disembarking from a cruise in Civitavechia and going to the Amalfi coast for 5 days and then back to Rome for a week. It seems so foolish to drag all that luggage along when so little is needed for 5 days.

Any other solutions? I know this isn't "my" thread but I always hate to start more threads!

Maybe we could get our driver to take us to the airport before Termini? Are there lockers at Termini?

Sorry about "hijacking" this, wjk.

PalQ, I forgot where I got the ~Jan'03 opening date, perhaps it was posted at the station.
But it was open in Mar '03 when I was there and this is probably the post I recalled.

Message: I was in Pisa (briefly) in May of this year and put my luggage in the luggage check - very secure and reasonably priced (although don't remember how much but under 5E I think).>>>

"...and then hope that it is open the day you arrive."

You could be right on this point.
It looked to be a 1 man operation and he did seem to be a maintance man also, he was sweeping a hallway when I was there. So I wouldn't be surprised that it could be closed when he is on coffee break, lunch or out sick.
Regards, Walter

Brahmama, I'm alittle confused and it doesn't take much as to what you are actually doing.
But the FCO Airport has 'left luggage' (Deposito Bagagli) at the far left end of Terminal C Arrivals. Arriving by auto: Stop at the last entrance, enter the terminal and left luggage is in the left corner.
At Termini alongside Track 24 there is an elevator that takes you down 1 floor and left luggage is right there. It is signposted. Regards, Walter
