Ischia Accommodation
Hi
I have been searching the net for days looking for accommodation on Ischia at a reasonable rate. I don't want to pay any more then about 50 euro a night for a double. I would prefer to stay in Ischia but at this rate i will take anywhere.
I just found Albergo Villa Hibiscus has anyone stayed there or know anything about it.
Thanks

Hi
Check this out - http://www.hotelpoggiodelsole.it. Or http://www.vachome.com/e400341/ or http://www.villaciccio.it/. It may help too if you state what month you are travelling.
Cheers

Have you tried www.ischiaonline.it and www.ischia.com they have a tremendous amount of hotels. 50 Euro a night will be hard to find, but they have all types of hotels. Ischia is one of the lowest price hotel areas.

Hi Worldinabag. I'm just starting to plan next year's hol & am looking at being in Ischia 3-10 June 2006. The Hotel Poggio del Sole looks lovely & seems remarkably good value - do you have personal experience of it ? The Villa Ciccio sounds nice too, but I'm put off by it only having a warm pool not a cool one. Any other suggestions ? Sant'Angelo is supposed to be the nicest village, isn't it ? My price limit is c.€120 per day for a double. We'd want to have easy access to buses & restaurants, & being on or near a beach would be a plus, though not essential as we'll be spending the following week on a beach. Thanks very much.

Hi
Molly - there is also the Ring Hostel - http://www.ringhostel.com. 70E for two with ensuite. One bed shared bath is 52E but I'm not sure if this is a double bed. By the way please check other hotel rates - they may be person NOT per room.
Caroline - no, unfortunately I've never been to Ischia. Definitely on my list. The only other info I have is these apartments - http://www.vacationhomerentals.com/v...proID-792.html or http://www.vachome.com/e400341/
Cheers y'all

Also recommend the Ischiaonline site. We stayed at a place called hotel Beltramonto. It is in Casamacciola, which we quite liked. It is in the upper part of the town, up the tiniest winding roads. Great views at this place. It was not at all expensive. It is definitely a unique place -- a little wacky. If you go to the link to the hotel through the ischiaonline site, the slightly bizarre English translation describing Beltramonto will give you an idea of what this hotel is like. The price was right for us.
We actually found Sant' Angelo, while very nice, to be more touristy and less "local" feeling than some of the other, slightly bigger towns. Local life was going on around is in Casamacciola...we felt like we were a part of it.

Hi
I actually found a self contained apartment to stay in at Barno for under 50E for the double. It certainly doesn't look special (looks clean and tidy - but old), anyway it was the perfect price for us and after a few vinos who will care what it looks like
I don't even know how I came across it now. But if anyone is on a tight budget I have the email contact.

My family is in Sant Angelo. I don't know about more touristy than other areas, but the shops and restaurants are definitely more expensive. The hotels are about the same price as the rest of the island. The previous poster that said more local life goes on in the other areas probably only walked around the piazza and shops. If you walk up the hill, that's where all the residents live and carry on daily life. It is definitely worth a visit. It's a wonderful area.
Ischia is a resort area and mostly Germans visit. Some people speak English, but most of the Italians also speak German. If you don't speak Italian or German, you'll still get along well.

Hi Ann1, you are right -- we actually walked into Sant'Angelo from Panza (bus strike) and so went past some local areas, but once in the part of town along the water, it just seemed a little more upscale and tourist focused than some of the other places we were.
I live in a tourist area in the US and so have no problem with that (especially when I am a tourist myself); I just remember reading on some other Ishcia threads that Sant'Angelo was LESS tourist-oriented, and I disagreed with that.
Lovely town and location, anyway! And we had a fabulous dinner there. I can't wait to visit there again...

annabelle2 I understand. Wow, you had quite a walk. Did you walk back up or take a taxi? The hill I was talking about is the hill behind the piazza that goes straight up and has incredible views. The church of San Michele is up there. You see the stairs up next to some stores in the piazza.
