Is it my imagination, or are there site problems everytime Fodor's changes the color scheme?

And why do they keep changing it so randomly?

There's certainly a sight problem.

Is the new colour scheme safe for epileptics?

It's designed to take our minds off the fact that the site doesn't work very well these days. But wouldn't it have been nicer if the powers that be turned to their web design skills instead of their (lack of) decorating skills?

I notice that the color of the posts that you have read has turned from red to grey - a really poor color contrast with the pale blue unopened threads.

Does that help people who are color blind?

Oh wow, Ira, I didn't even notice the difference in the read posts. Until I angled my screen a little more, I couldn't tell any color difference in the two. Now that you bring it up, I see a slight difference.

Can't stand the new color!! I agree with you, ira. I liked the blue to red change once you read a post. The present contract just doesn't work for me.

The entire Fodor's site is even clumsier than usual. Has anyone noticed this on the home page:

"We are happy to announce that the Fodor's editors are now participating in the forums. They will be dipping as time permits to talk about their travel experiences and to offer advice. Take advantage of this opportunity to pick their brains and if you're lucky they'll drop in on your thread."

and right under that is are posts chosen from different forums, not specifying whether they are originated by staffers or added to by staffers or neither. One asks if there is any "vine swinging" (no kidding) in Belize. The sole reply is a skeptical, you've-got-to-be-kidding, are-you-talking-about-the-zipline?

Hardly a "hot" topic!!! What are they up to? Are staffers now trolling? Has this been going on and I was completely unaware of it?

Have you all noticed the 4 new forums? I saw those the other day when the "secret robot forum" thread was going around.

I think they need a fifth one for forum evaluations. I like the new scheme Fodors. Good job. Much more professional/commercial. I assume that the leftover blue graphics on the forums, reply page and so on are because no one has modified the script yet.

I do agree with ira. The vlink value shouldn't be gray. Too hard to notice on white in comparison with blue. The leftover blue bits and links are what's not working well anyway. (psst, check on dark brown/deep red ranges)

Yes, but those forums don't look new. They've cut and pasted threads from existing forums there.

Well, I'll be....

LOL, you're right. There wasn't anything in them the other day when they were still hidden. Seeding the pot, it looks like. Travelers Lounge ought to get some chit chat. I can see the Dream Trip one dying of attrition someday. Those kinds of threads only come up because someone doesn't already know there's one in the system somewhere. It's kind of a poll, really.

I'm still anxiously awaiting the debut of the new "Whining" board...in ther meantime perhaps the edirors who are now supposedly "dipping in" with pertinent and useful comments might enlighten us as to the real reason for the changes.

You opened a thread where people were obviously offering these kinds of opinions. Then act exasperated about it.

That's kind of curious.

Any time computer techs anywhere upgrade or improve software or a site, there are problems.

They just upgraded our office to Windows XP (Xsomething anyway) this past Monday. The entire office spent pretty much the entire week fiddling with the display settings, trying to find out how to get to their personal folders, dealing with screen freezes, etc.

We have yet to discover what actual added functionality there is with the "upgraded" software as opposed to what we had before.

I liked the "read thread red" better, too. The grey doesn't show up as much. Someone on the US forum said their read threads were still red. Strange.

Otherwise, I don't mind the new format and colors. I actually like the home page better than before.

(Memo to self: make sure you check spelling before posting this).

OK

My read threads are still red.

The "read-through colors" are, seemingly, a function of your individual browser's design/version/settings, are they not?
