Irish vacation
We leave soon for our trip. Will be staying at the Drumlin View at Galway, Atlantic Sunset House in Doolin, Duinin House in Dingle, Applecroft House in Killarney and St. Andrew's Guest House outside of Dublin. Has anyone stayed at any of these homes? We hope to do a lot of walking to town and out to eat, does this seem reasonable? Does the weather permit one to wear walking shorts or are long pants more in line? Would like one favorite place to eat or see in any of the above listed towns...we look forward to 12 days of joy.

Go to Foley's in Killarney. The food is fantastic. Call ahead for reservations. It should be busy this time of year. Also, while you are there, you may want to consider going to hear some music in Killarney at the Laurels Pub. Have a nice time!
Kate

Try The Mystic Celt in Dingle. Call ahead for reservations. It's hard to tell about the weather, take layers, and maybe one pair of shorts.
For other great places to eat, check out the Hibernian magazine at www.twoh.com--this months issue has a great article of the best restaurants in Ireland.
I have stayed a couple of times at Applecroft and can whole heartedly reccommend it! It is close enough to be able to walk into killarney town centre and ideally located to explore "the Ring of Kerry" muckross house is just down the road well worth a vist. You'll find your hostess Kathy very friendly. The accomodation is first class and all the rooms are themed. I personally prefer 'past times' but equally enjoyed 'the nineteenth hole'. Have a brilliant time - it'll be hard not to!

We rode our bikes in western Ireland for a week - rained every day, usually 50-60 degree weather. But we loved it!!! We did lots of walking in the DIngle area as well. I wore shorts often but always had a jacket. There is a lovely b&b in Doolin that also serves a fantastic evening meal- i believe it is called Cullinans- Just ask around. People in Ireland were always wanting to help. Many great conversations with strangers!

We returned yesterday from Ireland. In Dingle, we stayed at Duinin House. It is very nice, though our room was a little smaller and less elegant than some. The color scheme was delightfully cheery. The breakfast was one of the best we had -- a nice choice, including porridge with Baileys and pancakes which were a nice change after many mornings of bacon, sausage and eggs! We ate in the lovely glass conservatory/sitting room overlooking the bay. You'll be happy with this choice.
