Ireland Help with accommodation

Hi,

My wife and I are planning a ten day trip to Ireland in May and are looking for accommodation suggestions in the following towns.

Doolin
Dingle,
Kenmare
Kilkenny
Shannon

Our plan is to rent a car in Shannon and then spend two nights in each town. We are hoping to stay in either very nice bed and breakfast's or small country houses.

We are planning on a budget of $150 a night. We want somwhere where we can relax every second day. We are in our 50's.

I have looked on google but there are so many website that I am finding it hard to pick places. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you

Here is our trip review from Sept. 2010. If you scroll through it, you will find photos from photobucket(links in blue) for Dingle and Kenmare and also a trip advisor WOW video(again link in blue), fast & musical.

Dingle Peninsula was the best scenery of our trip and www.greenmount-house.com was one of the best B &B's. We did pay more for a balcony room, but they have others more in your price range.

Our other favorite place was Kenmare and www.shelburnelodge.com was another favorite. Mulcahy's restaurant was our favorite of the whole trip.

To even out the B&B cost we stayed in lesser cost proerties some of the other nights.

We loved Ireland so much that we are returning in May to other parts including Kilkenny, Kinsale, etc.

Good luck in your planning.

In Dingle we stayed at The Lighthouse and loved it. It has a great view down on the town. In addition to tpayt's suggestion, Pax House and Emlagh Lodge (not to be confused with Emlagh House) get great reviews.

In Kemare we last stayed at The Lodge, which is more like a boutique hotel at B&B prices. Our room was huge and quiet, with an easy walk into town. This year we are mixing it up and trying Virginia's, right above Mulcahey's restaurant.

We haven't been here yet, but will be staying at Abbey Lodge in Kilkenny.

As for the Shannon area, we like to stay in Bunratty. Last year we stayed at Dunaree, and will be there again in April. No tv in the room, if that is important to you, but a nice guest lounge downstairs.

Hope this helps!

alisonm is spot on...rather than Shannon, many of us stay in Bunratty for our last night(s). Look at http://headleycourt.net/ or http://bunrattylodge.com/ .

Or consider Ennis. I have stayed at http://www.bed-breakfast-ennis.com/ Eden Hill House on two trips and was most pleased. It's outside of Ennis on the way to Shannon.

Kilkenny: Alcantra B&B was awesome, and close to the centre of the city.

Dingle - Cill Bhreac Houes, had a lovely stay, and they just re-freshed their rooms last year.

Ennis - just 30 minutes from the Shannon airport, I stayed at the Temple Gate Hotel. Perfect location in town, and very nice service and food.
