If you HAD to live In Europe, Where Would It Be?
Assuming money wasn't an object ( :-O )
* What city would you choose? * What neighbourhood? * and why there? |
Amsterdam. Great city, very livable, central location for hops to the other cities.

If I had to live in Europe I would definetely choose a Scandanavian country, probably southern Norway or Denmark. Yeah, I know the taxes are higher than in the U.S. and most of the rest of Europe, but they have a wonderful quality of life and appreciation for their community. I don't know about the cold winters, though! I think I would head south now and then like most Scandanavians try to do!
|
And my neighborhood in Amsterdam would be the Joordan.
|
Realistically, probably Ireland, probably Dublin, because I have friends who are native and I have a high comfort level.
But man, to live on the Amalfi Coast would be sweet. Maybe Ravello. Just gorgeous and peaceful. If we could just get rid of the damn tourists! ;) |
Well I already live in Europe (I'm British) but I have a dream of living in Italy (farmhouse in Umbria or Tuscany, but decent access to Florence, my first love). It WILL happen.
Luckily, what with the EU, I can now live and work in any European Country in The EU. Can't wait to escape the daily grind of a big city. Kate, London |
I would love a lovely piece of property in Provence with lavender, a pool, easy access to the Mediterrean and a plane to take me to Paris at will (we are dreaming aren't we!)
|
I have Paris' 7th written all over me...with another home in Southern Tuscany, around Pienza.
|
I have always told that if I win the lottery I would buy myself a loft in the very centre of Paris, with a view on the Seine. The only problem is....I dont buy any lottery ticket!!!!!!!! I have once heard that the chances to win are 1 one I dont remember how many millions....
|
Britain: Devon: a town near the sea OR if it has to be a city: London: Hampstead (close enough to the city centre but near enough to a green area)
|
London
Ben Haines |
Coniston, in the English Lake District, for the scenery.
|
Well you said Money no object!!!!
And I know the area well - just outside of london -Close to heathrow - I could shoot the peasants errr..... pheasants from the balcony. http://www.fpdsavills.co.uk/resident...?SiteRef=35824 And only $27 million sponds! ( click on images you can just make me out ) |
- Hamburg, Germany
- Latvia - Copenhagen - Stockholm |
KATE, did you ever decide on the indulgence from your bonus?
|
I'd have to live in a city. I grew up in the country and although it is nice to visit, you slowly die there. No busy walking neighbourhoods. No noisy restaurants. No opera. No anonymity when you want it.
I prefer a smaller city because they are cleaner and safer. But I would have to say London, because realistically, to "live" somewhere and not just visit, I need to speak the language. And I love multicultural cities. Second choice, Lyon, because it is a more manageable size and who can argue with the food and wine there! Plus I do speak just enough French to settle in there. |
I would live in Tuscany, preferably just outside of Florence.
|
Oia, Santorini. Just not in the winter!
|
If I could have my ultimate fantasy I would live in Paris, in the 6th, and have a summer home on Capri.... dream on

Well, if $$ were no object then we would definitly purchase a flat in London, somewhere in the Chelsea/Kensington/Holland Park area. Being as we don't have the 2 mil to buy a decent space I guess we'll just have to dream. My favorite city outside of the US. Beautiful parks and easy acces to all central London locals.
