Iceland March Itinerary

Hi all... I've picked up some excellent advice from the postings and trip reports, and have pieced together what I think should be a good itinerary.
We're a family of 4 (2 kids, ages 8 and 10) and will be traveling in late March. Just wanted to post this for any advice or things we might not be considering, along with a few hotels/guesthouses we're looking at. Thanks in advance.

Day 1-arrive 6am. Spend day and night in Reykjavik, including Blue Lagoon to relax after the flight (30 miles to Blue Lagoon)
Hotel TBD-Reykjavik

Day 2-- Drive Reykjavik-Stykkisholmur- (106 miles)
• -Stykkisholmur, Stay at the Baenir and Braudt guest house

Day 3-Drive Stykkisholmur to Snafefellsnesi, Stay at Hotel Budir (57 miles)

Day 4- Drive first half of Golden Circle,
overnight in Geysir- Hotel Geysir (141 miles)

Day 5- Drive remainder of Golden Circle to Vik;
overnight in Vik-Volcanoe Hotel (105 miles)

Day 6- Drive East to Jokulsarlon, then begin heading West
Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe)
• Öræfajökull/Hvannadalshnjúkur (the highest peak in Iceland)
• black sand desserts on the coast,
• Skaftafell national park
• Ice Lagoon Boat tours
overnight in Kirkjubarklaustur-Fosshotel

Day 7- Drive to Seljalandsfoss
Visit Vestman Islands
Overnight in Seljalandsfoss

Day 8-Return to Reykjavik
- Overnight Reykjavik (160 miles)

Day 9-Day in Reykjavik

I realize this is an old post, but I’m hoping you are around to see. My husband and I are thinking of taking my 8 and 10 year to Iceland in late March. How did your trip go? Were the roads scary? We are from Chicago, so we are used to snow but our roads are also salted, plowed etc so I don’t know what to expect. Did your kids enjoy it, or were they too cold? Any details would be appreciated if you have time/remember. Thanks!
