We have visited 34 countries on 5 continents, not counting the many islands on cruises,or airport stopovers to change planes.
We traveled extensively through the former Yugoslavia before the war and their break-up into 6 countries, of which we visited 4, making our total 37. Most of our trips have been to only one country at a time, spending 10-18 days, usually fly-drive trips. Jimjim & DW |
There are only 193 countries in this world? AND I get to count the Vatican?
Well...then I must do a re-tally... North America: US (home!) and Canada South America: Argentina and Chile Africa: Tunisia Asia: Taiwan, Japan Europe: UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Italy, Spain, France, The Vatican. I'm currently missing 2 continents: Antarctica and Australia. This means I've only visited 11.9% of the world. I have a lot of catching up to do! :D |
NA - US, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica
EU - Ireland, UK, France, Neth, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Switzerland SA - Peru Australia Africa - South Africa July '07 McNyc - if you ever make it to Australia - head to New Zealand as well and you can get a sight seeing flight from the south island over Antartica. |

Until the year 2000, I had only visited our dear friends in Canada. After my first trip to France, in September 2000, I became addicted to travel, and since then have tried to make one trip each year:
2000: France 2001: England and Wales 2002: Italy 2003: Netherlands and southern Germany 2004: Spain 2006: Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Austria (also northern Germany and Munich) Maybe next year we'll add Ireland and Scotland Every one of those countries has turned out to be wonderful! I have no reason to believe the rest of Europe, at least, isn't just as lovely. |
Ooo...thanks Naplo999 for the tip! :)

Fun post! I'm 28, have been traveling to Europe since 2002, and am up to 20 countries and will be adding a few new ones this year. We usually travel to Europe twice a year. I haven't ventured outside of Europe yet, but plan to do so next year.

This is fun...why doesn't someone start a thread about how many US states have you visited. I got paranoid about flying when I had young kids and planned vacations around car trips.

Deb15July, Why don't you start it that U.S. states thread? Better to cross post in U.S. than Europe forum.
For what it is worth, I have many friends with similar issues with airtravel (specially after 9-11) as you so don't feel alone. In fact, I used to do at least one out of town trip (by air) a week! in my last job, and really can't stand more than one every other week now. That said, as I told someone in my office the other day, you gotta find a way to get over it. You will find it worth it. Good day. |
