How early for an early flight out of Edinburgh?
We have a 6:45 a.m. flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam. Does the 2 to 3 hour International flight pre-arrival time suggestion count? When we arrive before 5 a.m. in Dublin last time there weren't any staff to check us in!... Experiences?

I flew out of Edinburgh last week, and they were enforcing the 2 hour rule also. If you have a flight that requires a 2 hour check-in, then surely the desks will be open..... or is that too simple?!! Seriously, I fly out of Edinburgh on a really regular basis, and often catch the 6.30am flight to London, and there's always a fair bit of activity at 5.30am. To cut a long story short, I'd also go for checking with the airline, or with Edinburgh Airport direct.

Jenny

If you get there at 5.15 you'll be fine. Don't be scared by other comments of 2 hrs plus. BA are not going to turn you away if you arrive 60 mins before flying and I'm prepared to argue that point with anyone, even certain 'frequent' users of Edinburgh who like to remind us that this is exactly what they do and their life is so much more intyeresting/exciting than mine. I mean really.

Sheila, if you're looking for special treatment, dress like me. Helps if you dont shave either (but that doesnt apply to you, of course). You'll be sure to get special treatment on business flights. I dont think I've flown BA out of Edinburgh yet without being pulled aside for the old 'Where are you travelling to today, sir?' questions.

Tony,

I'm not disagreeing either, but on the international flight I took last week, a colleague was later turning up (around 70 minutes before take off) and he was turned away, and had to get a later flight. Just giving MY experience.

Jenny

I'd also agree with Shiela and Jenny. I got no end of trouble when I was later than 1 1/2 hours before check in last week for a flight. And no, my life is not hugely interestiong because I fly a lot - it's actually pretty tedious ... jsut happens to be part of my job, and probably the worst part of it. Don't get me started on centralised services in London!
