Hotel Pitti Palace in Florence

Hi All-

I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has stayed at the Hotel Pitti Palace in Florence. It came highly recommended from a friend who stayed there many years ago. We will be going in late September and we are trying to decide between this hotel and the Hotel Ritz. The Pitti Palace is 340,000 lira/night vs about 280,000 at the Hotel Ritz.

Thanks in advance for your insights. Finding these message boards has been a blessing!

Kind Regards,
Shannon

My wife and I just made reservations at the Pitti Palace Hotel for November. Based on recommendation of our tour specialist. Please let me know if you hear anymore about this.

Just back from 3 nights in Florence. We stayed at the Helvetia and Bristol and it was truly wonderful with a location that cannot be bettered.Check out the web page.

Shannon,
Due to a reservations mix-up last Nov., our friends were housed at the Pitti Palace. This turned out to be a bonus for them. They liked the hotel, the room was well-appointed and the location couldn't be any better. They also commented that the breakfast was exceptionally nice for Italy.
Hope you enjoy your stay.

My husband and I were rerouted there in March and it was a horrible experience. They have no elevators and they put us on the fifth floor. My husband has four herniated discs.Besides that it is situated on a corner where I think every motor scooter goes by. The noise is awful. There is more to the story but I don't want to take up any more space. You can email me if you want to know more. We finally were given a room at the Hotel Astoria, which was a great place.
