Hi
If no one rings in here, look for comments from past hotel guests at
www.paris.org or
www.hotelboulevard.com
If you have an address or metro stop for the hotel, people could at least comment here on the location even if they don't know the hotel
In general, the Latin Quarter is a convenient and popular place to stay, but I would look for more specific comments.
good luck
Patricia: I stayed in a single room there last year. It was small, but not nearly as small as some singles I've stayed in. I didn't manage to peek into any doubles while walking down the hall, so I can't speak to their size. The hotel is okay. Nothing to rave about. The staff was very cordial. They tried to rip me off on the breakfast charges, but backed down as soon as I pointed out (ever so politely) the error of their ways. Obviously (and this is an assumption; I could be entirely wrong here) you want to be very near to Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, et al. This was my only trip to Paris, and if I ever return, I would definitely stay at least 2 blocks in ANY direction further away from Notre Dame than the location of that hotel. Walking up the street leading to Notre Dame was like walking a gauntlet between all the restaurant owners and wait people out there begging you to come in. Granted; you don't have to walk that street; I'm just telling you what my impression was. There are lots of recommendations for Paris hotels on this forum. If I were you, I'd read those and pick something just a couple of blocks farther away from the location you're currently considering.

Elaine- Thanks for the great hotel links! I will check them out.

Holly- Thanks! I am glad to hear your impressions of the hotel--that's just what I was looking for!

As of now, I hadn't looked in other locations, but maybe I should ,just to get a feel of what's out there.

Thanks again to both for all your help!
Patricia
I'll be staying at the Parc Saint-Severin in the early spring and will post a review on this board when I get back. In the meantime, check out Sandra Gustafson's "Great Sleeps Paris" and a book called the "Unofficial Guide to Paris" for good reviews of the hotel. I found it easier to make reservations by contacting the hotel directly at [email protected]. They replied promptly and were very courteous - they should be able to give you rate information. Hope this helps!

Mark is right. After reading about room #70 here on Mark's other post and follow up reviews I looked up, I decided to change my reservation for a week in September to that penthouse suite at Hotel Parc Saint Severin if it would be available. I emailed the hotel which within two hours confirmed the availabilty and price, then I booked with credit card details to hold and asked a number of questions. Again within two hours I received the final confirmation and a separate email from the reservation manager answering all my questions. I don't know when I've received such prompt and efficient booking service.

I've stayed there, it's more of the modern than the charming category although I believe the decor varies room to room. But perfect round the clock left bank location right next to Little Athens, but far enough away to be quiet. I looked out my window into St. Severin across the street and witnessed a wedding. The location is prime, all the cafes, etc of St Michel and St Germain are right at your doorstep. The restaurants in Little Athens (rue de la Huchette etc) are a visual feast with all the food in the windows, and the arabic places have interesting pastries and gyros (they call them something different tho, schwarma sp?) A walk down rue St Andre Des Arts towards the Odeon and Buci market area is fantastic esp at night.

Another nice thing about Parc St Severin's location is that it's so close to an RER station which makes for quick and simple access to/from CDG airport as long as you're fit enough to wheel your own bags. I also use the RER to/from the airport when I stay near Chatelet on the right bank.
