Holy Week

I hope someone can help me. I am planning on coming to Seville and Madrid during Holy Week. Will places be open? How about Good Friday and Easter? Will it be harder to find hotels then? Please respond as I need to book my flights immediately. Thank you very much.

You may be too late get anywhere affordable for Holy Week in Seville (Madrid should be ok). People book a year in advance for their favourite hotels, and rates sky-rocket. You should search the web ASAP to see what's left. You could stay somewhere else and travel in, but apart from traffic congestion, you lose out on the unique atmosphere of being right at the heart of the observance.

Janet,
Alec gave you good advice. It will be difficult, if not impossible to find something in Seville ( Madrid should be fine).

If you do find something in Seville( and it's well worth the try-gorgeous ), the only day that was really quiet was Good Friday. Almost all shops and restaurants were closed.

M.

In Sevilla during Good Friday all shops will be closed, not the restaurants, bars and cafés. Regarding accommodation I find it really hard to get some place to stay. If you want to experience Holy Week in other interesting places I would suggest you Carmona, Jerez or Cordoba. Malaga can be as booked right now as Seville. Many madrilians come to Sevilla for Easter so I do not think you will find any problem to get accommodation there.
