Hints for a trip to London & Scotland

Hi.....this forum seems very helpful...thank you all in advance!

I will be traveling w/ my 14 year old daughter at the end of March through London for 4 daysm then on to Glasgow for the Irish Dancing Worlds Championships, in which she will be competing.

After the competition, we will have 4 more days to kill until we must be back in London to catch our home flight.

Suggestions? More of Scotland? Rent a car and drive to Edinburg and/or north Scotland? Back to London? I'm perplexed with ideas and decisions.....would love any suggestions!! Thanks...

How great for your daughter. With so few days free for Scotland you won't have time to go too far afield - especially since the weather in March is pretty iffy.

What I'd do is rent a car (or take the train if you don't feel like driving) and go to Stirling or some village nearby for the first night after Glasgow. You'd see some nice countryside and Stirling Castle is absolutely magnificent. Plus it is a short drive from Glasgow. You could visit Loch Lomond on the way there.

Then - from Stirling head to Edinburgh and turn in your car at the airport (or if you took the train, go into the city center by train). Spend the last 3 days in Edinburgh and the fly back to London. Edinburgh is wonderful of course - all the history, beautiful views and it is a great walking city. And you could eat at the same coffee shop JK Rowling sat and wrote the Harry Potter books if your daughter is interested.

Edinburgh is well worth a visit. One of my favorite cities of all time.

And a day trip to St. Andrews might be an idea. Charming village and a lot of teenage girls are excited to see where Prince William is hanging out these days.

While in the UK, be sure to take your daughter into a Lush store. Great bath products and the colors and scents would appeal to anyone. The bath balls are great fun.
