Help with trip to Normandy and Loire Valley
I am planning to meet my husband who has a business trip in Versailles the first week of October. We will have 6 nights. We have already been to Paris several times. We were planning on renting a car and going to Normandy, Mont St-Michel and Amboise. We need to return the car to Charles De Galle Airport.
Does anyone have any suggestions on which way we should start the trip. We are planning two nights in Bayeux and three in Amboise. Any sugestions where we should spend the extra night.
Thank you for the help!

Maybe here?

Been on my wanna-try-sometime list for a while now. A good midpoint. Convenient for Chartres and your gateway to either Normandy or the Loire.
Best wishes,
Rex

Bringing your question back up "to the top" since it is your first time here - - (how do I know that? click on your own name; this is a valuable tip that Fodors fails to tell you about, when they send you the e-mail confirming your registration).
Best wishes,

For your last night, I'd heartily recommend the hotel La Chaîne d'Or in Les Andelys. It's about a two-hour drive from there to Charles de Gaulle.
The hotel is right on the bank of the river Seine. Rooms are comfortable and pretty, and some have views of the river. The restaurant has French doors opening out onto the river bank, and the food is excellent. This was our favorite hotel/restaurant out of quite a number last September.

Hi,
We are still in France (Paris) and just returned from the Dordogne region. We stayed at the L'Esplanade in Domme for six nights last week. The hotel was very nice, the food was great and the views were fantastic. Traffic was not a problem for us. The town of Domme was crowded, but most visitors parked down the hill. We did not have any difficultly entering the town or finding a parking space close to our hotel. Our only difficulty was on market day (Thursday). We had a hard time finding a "free" parking space, so we went to the public parking area near our hotel and paid for one. Domme is definitely worth a trip if not a “stay”.
We were never at a loss for what to do in this area. While there we saw the caves, toured lovely towns, canoed, and ate, and ate, and ate. All of our dinners were at the L’Esplanade. Enjoy the Dordogne. So far, has been our favorite area in France, but we just arrived in Paris....?
