may i suggest for the women a long, frilly skirt with peasant blouse? for a touch of class you could add a mantilla to your hair. for the guys, perhaps white shirt and pants with a red bandana.
(sorry, but you guys have ruined me for questions like this!)

Soooooo sorry, Janine...okay.
Let's see...Weatherwise in October...bring a light lacy shawl for cool evenings. Gentlemen, a bolero jacket.
I'm HURT you didn't like my fashion advise! Perhaps, it just goes to show that one should wear what one feels most comfortable wearing...

Spent a few days of October 97 in Barcelona.

Men: No short pants. A couple of pairs of dark long pants. If over 30, no jeans. Nice polo shirts for possibly warm days, maybe a sweater for evenings. Some sort of presentable lightweight jacket. Leather shoes.

Women: If under 40 and a size 6 or less, tight micro-fiber pants with a slight boot flare at the bottom (dark colors, no pockets in the back). Tight colored t-shirts for possibly warm days, sweaters for night. Nice rain jacket that looks good at night even when it's not raining. Good leather shoes and maybe one dark pair of lightweight canvas shoes for sightseeing. Lightweight umbrella. Buy some nice leather boots there.

Have fun.

xx is right! Cut poor Stef some slack will ya? We all have to start somewhere and if I got a response like that my first time out then I would be pretty reluctant to ask a question again, then this forum could become a nice little home for the same 16 people who know exactly the correct way to post messages and respond.

Sharon, We are light...that's the point. I've been reading (and sometimes participating) for a year now and have seen more and more of this hurtful "humor". It's just not funny when it's aimed towards someone that may not know that it's humor..that's all.

I just offered "fashion-sense"...hopefully, CERTAINLY, I was not being Hurtful!
What good information did Janine give? At least we've spurred on the thread long enough to (maybe) give her a serious answer...
Uh...when did I make fun of her or say she was wrong in asking her question? (that wasn't me!)
Actually, Brian in Atlanta was damn close to the truth!!! I lived in Lisboa for a year and he's So right!!! Just add in the 3-inch platform shoes...

So, is that better? Is that a wise contribution to what Stef should wear?

xxx sharon.

Sharon:

"What good advice did Janine give?"

None at all. I wasn't attempting to give advice to Stef.

However, I do think Stef deserved at least the courtesy of a straight answer to a simple question.

It takes a lot of chutzpah to throw out five nonresponsive (and often nasty) posts and then take credit for keeping the thread going long enough so someone can give a straight answer!
