Getting to Jausiers
This the first of probably many querries since we have never been to France, but for starters: We are scheduled to spend a week the latter part of next June in the village of Jausiers, Alpes de Haute Procvence. I know we'll have to drive there, but don't know from where. Should we start from Nice, Marseilles, or perhaps Grenoble, or some place I don't know about? Also, what would be the best route from these places? Looking for suggestions.

Hi C,
I think either Marseille (2:45 hr) or Nice (2:26 hr) depending on air connections.
You can take the TGV from CDG to Marseill for as little as 64E 1cl - cheaper than 2cl.

I'm confused: are you originally flying into Paris, or where? You say the TGV to Nice is expensive--but if you were coming from Paris you'd be spending about 6-1/2 hours of your time on the train just to Nice, then more travel time up to Jausiers.

Here's the situation. We're going to use frequent flyer miles (AA). I am not sure this will get us beyond Paris or London. Since we are not terribly fond of driving (spoiled by the Swiss system), Thought we would fly or train to somewhere closer to Jausiers, perhaps spend a day or so, and then rent a car and drive there. We will also have a few days after Jausiers, but that's a different story. We are thus interested in what would be the easiest drive, but don't wish to spend an arm and leg getting to the driving departure. Hope this clears any confusion.

Hi-I hope you like Jausiers better than we did. We had a time share in Switzerland & then drove through the tunnels in the Alps to get there. It was April so it was cold. We ended up leaving our timeshare early & drove to Annecy,France.I was told it was the Venice of Italy. We loved that town.YOu can E-mail me direct if you have any questions-Christine [email protected]
