Frothenberg

Trying to determine wheter we can do this solely by train or if we would need a car (and if so for what parts:

Arriving Frankfurt - heading on to Wurzburg, Frothenberg and Heidelberg (return to Frankfurt airport for an 11 AM flight).

Can we get to Frothenberg by rail...to Frankfurt airport by rail by 8 AM?

Also - specific sites, eating places, beer halls that we should take in?

Thank you for your thoughts.

John,
I presume you mean Rothenburg rather than Frothenberg. If so, travel by train gets a bit nonproductive. You'll have no problem traveling by train from Frankfurt to Wurzburg and on to Rothenburg. However, almost all trains going to Heidelberg from Rothenburg do so by going back to Frankfurt then on to Heidelberg after a change. Those that don't involve a lengthy time consuming trip. You'd have much more flexibility traveling by car both from the standpoint of time saved and the ability to adjust your itinerary without concern for timetables.

Knowing that info will help in determining what you can see and do in the time available.
