From Forence biking day trips

My husband is an avid road cyclist. He is looking for two biking day trips from Florence. Although he is used to biking 50-100 miles at a time, he is really looking for a couple of full day bike tours to keep him busy while I am at a trade show. I have checked "i Bike Tuscany" and their tours are full. Any suggestions for a bike tour or a private biking guide?

My husband is also an avid cyclist (50-100 miles twice a week), but he hasn't been tempted to ride in Italy. Although he thinks the local drivers are mostly rider-aware and respectful, he's not so sure about those tourists out on narrow, unfamiliar roads. Most rural/country roads have little or no shoulder, but the surfaces are usually very good.

I think it would be safer to be in a peloton or small group. I would want to get on the bike outside of Florence, but that might not be realistic for a day tour.

Too dangerous for my taste---very crowded anyplace close to Florence.
