From Barcelona, Spain to Lisbon, Portugal.

Hi

We're a family of four, two adults with two children of ages 7 and 17. Bought our 4 tkts from JFK to Barcelona on July 2, return from Lisbon on July 10. Our plan is as below:

- We will arrive at Barcelona on 7/3 around noon time, spend 7/3,7/3,7/5 and take the night train to Madrid.
- 7/6, 7/7 in Madrid and take the night train from Madrid to Lisbon
-7/8, 7/9 in Lisbon
- 7/10 return from Lisbon

- Please advise us if it is possible. Otherwise I will stay in Barcelona, will fly from there to Lisbon and fly back from there to JFK. I wanted to have a short trip at Madrid.

Thanks !

You seem to wish to save on hotels by taking night gains?
Fast train Barcelona - Madrid , 2:40 h
easyjet Madrin- Lisbon, one hour, about. 50 euros pp.

Yes, perfectly possible.

The AVE Barcelona-Madrid takes only 2h40 from around €35

The trainhotel is a unique experience, a 4-bed sleeper with washbasin has special fares from around €35 per person - bunk beds on a train, great fun (remember to take a bottle of Rioja on board with you, or buy from the cafe-bar). Far more fun than a boring easyjet flight with all the airport hassle.

Book these at www.renfe.com or (probably easier, especially for the sleeper train, although prices are in GBP) www.loco2.com

Thank you so much.

Here is my plan after reading all your threads:

Barcelona 7/3 - half day, 7/4 - full day, 7/5 - half day, take fast train from Barcelona to Madrid on 7/5.

Madrid 7/5 - evening, 7/6 Full day, 7/7 - almost full day, take the night train
Lisbon 7/8 - Full day, 7/9 Full day

Departure from Lisbon on 7/10 morning.

Now, can you suggest some hotels near the rail station that I need to take from Barcelona to Madrid / or any areas close to that rail station.

Need help with accommodation at Madrid too as I will take the night train from there.

Also, some suggestions with hotels in Lisbon.

Thanks !

>The trainhotel is a unique experience< - for sure! There is no dining car on "El Trenhotel Lusitania" from Madrid to Lisbon so pack some food if you want something to eat. The cafe-bar is pretty basic.

Regarding budget, I can afford some good hotels, not the XXXXX though. Like to stay in the hotels from where not difficult to get the train from Barcelona to Madrid and also in Madrid, from there to Lisbon, Portugal.
