Football Tickets
Does anyone know of a more reasonable way to get Manchester United football tickets for the match on April 25th, other than sites similar to e-bay? I am finding that £150 per ticket is a bit outrageous by the time I convert it back into dollars.

There is no "reasonable" way to get tix for the top teams, like ManU. Most tickets are sold to season ticket holders. Close to the date of the match, they might release a few leftover tickets to people who are "members". Other than that, there's the touts. Trust me, I've tried.

Sorry, but these things are sold out. This comes up on here fairly regularly. If you want to see any of the popular teams you need to be, at least, a member.
There will be touts ("scalpers") outside - but if you want a pair be prepared to pay silly money.

If my maths are correct, that's the match where, after hammering Spurs, Man U will be presented with the Premiership trophy in front of its supporters, giving it the second of the unique four trophies it will still think it's going to win this year.
The fact that Everton, backed by to the hopes and prayers of the entire nation, will by then have stopped them from winning all five, will only add to the determination of all those Irishmen and Americans who make up Man U's fanbase to pay absurd sums to be there on the day. Even though Liverpool will stop them from winning the Champions League as well, so they'll have to settle for three anyway.
I'd fork out the £150, then sell it for a profit outside the stadium.

Alec, I'm just curious, is all "touting" illegal, or just selling the tickets on the stadium property (which is the case here in California, but every state in the US has different laws on this subject).

This isn't quite as daft as it may sound. It is illegal to re-sell football tickets (it buggers up the segregation). It's rarely enforced But if it is, you have no comeback.
TBH £300 two tickets at old trafford ain't that bad. Check where they are as parts of old trafford are higher than Everest. And as far from the pitch.

Selling on tickets of 'designated sporting events', of which football is one, is illegal. This is to prevent opposing fans sitting in the same area and leading to disturbances. This law is patchily enforced, but for high-profile games (like all matches involving Man Utd) the police is likely to clamp down and take action.
For this reason, professional touts prefer to deal with tickets away from the ground - online, in offices or at least some distance away from the stadium.

One way you can get to see a top team in action is to wait until they are visiting a side at the bottom of the table especially if they are a distance apart ie Manchester Utd playing an away match in the south and especially if its mid week and towards the end of the season.

No chance of getting a ticket in ManU section, as it will be heavily oversubscribed. Also towards the end of the season, a lot is as stake - league championship, European places or relegation, and for a lot of teams every game matters. And ManUtd has a particularly large fan base in the South of England, so much so that when they are playing at home, Saturday morning trains out of London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly are often called 'ManU Specials'.

Oh i thought yous werre talking about real football and for that there is only one ticket - for Wembley's annual American Football NFL regular season game
but when they've gone on sale the past two years there have been several hundred thousand requests as soon as online sales opened. so they have a lottery - so many Brits are wanting to see some real action rough and tumble real football.

Old Trafford could possibly sell hundreds of thousands of tickets were the stadium big enough. It is not so much a football team, as a huge global corporate entity. I belong to an internet supporters group of one of the "smaller" teams on the south coast, and weeks before a game against ManU it will be inundated with new members asking about tickets - they all disappear very quickly on learning that these tickets don't exist.
Sorry, I have to agree with the others - to get a ticket to see ManU towards the end of the season, you have to be rich or lucky.

To folow on from Travelgirl2's point, the hospitality package might be the cheapest way overall, although the Spurs game on the 25th is a category B game. If you could attend on the 22nd against Portsmouth, then this is a Cat C game, and hospitality works out significantly cheaper (From £155).
I have a colleague who has done games at OT via that route, and he is full of praise for the quality of the hospitality packages. Probably a better bet in the long run than potentially dodgy tickets from a tout.

And it's legal.
Do you have to see Guildford Utd (and be aware you are being very stereotypical of Man Utd "fans" if you do)? There are other teams that are possible (for instance if that's where you are staying then Blackburn or Wigan are very easy - you can just turn up on the day)
