Flying into London - two carry-ons is okay?

I am aware of the "one carry-on" rule for UK airports right now. I just want to confirm that if I am flying from the USA to Heathrow, and Heathrow is my final destination, I can bring two carry-ons (or whatever American Airlines normally allows). Does that sound correct?

Two pieces of carryon into LHR, one piece out.

to be more specific -- two in, one through security on the way out (you can take more on board but only one through security)

Dumb question - but when you say 2 in, 1 out, you mean 1 when you are flying out of LHR to another destination, right?

That's right. Flying INTO the UK, you're allowed one carryon + one purse/laptop case/"personal item."

Flying out of the UK to anywhere, you're currently only allowed one item through security. So if you're planning to not check any baggage, make sure there's enough room in your carryon to stash your purse (or whatever) to get through security.

Should have clarified that that's flying into the UK from the US, and check with your airline for their specific rules. But generally, yes.
