flying from corfu

I'm about to book a return flight from Corfu into Athens, which gets in at 10:55am, and then my flight back to New York is at 12:35pm. Is this crazy? Is Aegean air reliable enough to get me to my international flight on time?
Also if anyone has any Northwestern Corfu hotel advice that would be great! I'm looking for pretty, relaxing, with a little night life. thanks for any help!

Ells,

I have flown twice from Corfu to Athens. But I have flown on the Olympic Airlines flight that leaves at 7:15. Both times right on time. I would assume Aegean Air to be equally reliable.

I have stayed both times on Pelekes beach, which is about 20 minutes from Corfu Town. Nice area but no night life that I know of.

You're not leaving yourself enough time to check in and get through security for an international flight. You have to be at the airport at least two hours before your flight departs. And judging from our experience in Athens last summer, you might want to be there 2 1/2-3 hours ahead of your flight.

Should not be a problem. The airport in Athens is small and the traffic seems to move quickly with a minimum of problems. 1-1.5 hours before the flight should suffice.

Hold on a minute. You are arriving (assuming flight is on time) 1hr40 minutes before your international flight departs Athens. Expect at least 30 min to claim your baggage, unless it is checked straight through to New York. That allows only about an hour to check in for your second flight and make your way to the departure gate. Athens Airport is small, so it may be just possible, assuming nothing goes wrong.

On the other hand, Greek domestic flights are occasionally late, baggage is sometimes delayed getting to the carousel, and new passenger identification requirements for flights to the US make check-in take longer. You would be wise to book an earlier flight from Corfu to Athens.

Please, it is safer to reserve a first flight from the island. There is a chance the aircraft for both Aegean and Olypmic has been at Corfu overnight so should leave on time. No delays have happened as the day continues.

I have a brother and family who live Corfu and many times they miss their connecting flight to Mykonos as the Corfu plane is late again.

Weadles and Heimdall give good advice about not enough time.
