Florence Hotel View

My husband and I will be traveling to Florence and would like to stay in a nice quiet room with a good view. Looking in the $100-150 range. Any suggestions?

The Hermitage in March 2001 it was $150.00. Great views from the roof top terrace. Ask for room 602 it shares the same floor as the terrace very private and larger room. Very nice people

If you can get the Hermitage for $150, I'd grab it. It is not only a nice hotel, but has spectacular views, both from the rooms facing the bridge and especially from the rooftop terrace for breakfast (if you are there in fair weather). It would be hard to beat for that price in my opinion. Most other hotels along the river face a lot of traffic along with the river view (which frankly in my opinion isn't usually all that exciting anyway.) And there aren't many hotels with enough height to give you really interesting views out into the city itself.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Consigli this past October - rates for a double are 150 Euros high season. (http://www.hotelconsigli.com/) While my room faced onto a (quiet) courtyard, and was simpler than the one pictured on the website, it was spacious and attractive, and I was just across the hall from the roof terrace. From there, there were lovely views of the Arno, including the Ponte Veccio, San Frediano, and the hills beyond. I often had it to myself!

This hotel is an easy walk from the train station - a straight shot towards the Arno, just by the American Embassy and Teatro Communale. Which means it is not right in the center of things; it is quieter, but you must walk 10-15 minutes or so to the Duomo, etc.

You may check availabilty (and book if you like) via www.venere.com
