Best way from St Pancras to Gatwick on a holiday Sunday?

This is for my parents. On Sunday May 30, they will be taking an afternoon train from Leicester to London St Pancras (approx. 1hr). From there they need to travel onwards to Gatwick Airport. Not the best timing I know. Their flight is the next day, on Monday morning. They will be staying overnight at the Gatwick Hilton. They aren't too concerned about trying to squeeze in any tourist time in London on the Sunday.

Given that it's the bank holiday weekend, would it better for them to take the tube to Victoria Station and then get the Gatwick Express (£33 plus tube fare) OR have a driver from Just Airports pick them up at St Pancras and deliver them straight to the Hilton Gatwick (£45)?

Convenience and sanity are the main factors.

Why don't they take the Capital Connect train from St. Pancras to Gatwick?

I had assumed they could get a direct FCC train too, but it looks like on on Sundays you have to tube to London Bridge and then get the FCC train from there, although maybe I'm reading the schedule incorrectly...

I'm also wondering if the FCC schedule would be affected by the fact it's the bank holiday weekend.

Car service might be handiest, I just don't know what will be busier, the roads or the stations.

well, stations won't be all that busy either. the only issue with the trains is changing to the underground and back on FCC or Gatwick Express and possibly schlepping luggage too.

I double checked and there's no FCC service right now between St Pancras and London Bridge on evenings and weekends.

It's good to know that things won't be that busy, that was my main concern really. I wasn't sure if the holiday put a wrench into things. But it sounds like it's just the usual train vs. car service thing.

Thanks to everyone
