etk401, perhaps because I have had sort of a stressful day I am not understanding your post correctly. So bear with me please.
Do I understand you that you and your husband wish to travel to Italy and visit Rome, Florence and Venice on your own? And that friends have suggested that you do a tour through Aberhrombie and Kent instead?
I will keep an eye out for this thread. I am sorry I don't quite understand. By the way, will you be traveling from the USA or another country?
Best regards.

Hello etk401, thanks for responding. Family has me going in "circles" today so was not clear what you desired. My fault, not yours.
When I, after selling my business, worked in the travel business for a few years Aberchrombie and Kent were considered the very best for tours.
I have not used them but if I wanted to take a tour they would be my first choice.
One quick question for you. Have the friends that recommended Aberchrombie and Kent actually taken a tour with them?
If I did a tour, and cost was not a factor they would certainly be an agency I would be talking to.
You must be so excited. It is good for parents to get away together from time to time..best wishes.

Dear etk,
Each new post brings the thread to the top of the list. If there are no posts to your thread it sinks lower and lower.
"Topping" or "ttt" is a quick way to bring your post to the top.
Hope this helps.
PS: Typing all caps is considered shouting.

Abercrombie and Kent is certainly among the best tour companies and the hotels you have indicated are also excellent. While we, and most of the regulars on this board, prefer to travel independently, A&K would be the way to go if you want a tour.
