Ferry between Malta and Sicily

Does anyone know if there is an alternative to Virtu-Ferries to get between Malta and Sicily?

I need to get from Sicily to Malta on the 2nd of July, and their only ferry seems to be at 8pm and arrives at 11pm, which is too late for me, I have a flight out of Malta at 7.15pm.

In all my careful planning, I seem to have overlooked this "small" detail! My internet searching hasn't brought much up.

Any ideas?

I don't know about ferries, but Air Malta flies between both Palermo and Catania and Malta.

Oh Michelle, what a pain. I too couldn't find any alternatives and have scratched Malta from my trip altogether...will do it separately another time.
Hope you get something sorted. I'm following your plans avidly.

Hi, we could not find another ferry company either so have booked flights between Malta and Catania instead. It is dearer but the timing is more convenient. I emailed Virtu Ferries and they emailed me their timetable which seemed to be more complete/easier to read than the one on their website. Might be worth a shot emailing them with your question?
Kay
By the way, there is only one flight a day from Catania to Malta so I hope it fits with your plans!

Last summer I went from Malta to Sicily and I flew Air Malta... it was very cheap and extremely easy.

Mishk - Besides Virtu Ferries, other operators between Malta and Sicily are Besamar Lines and Euro Malta Express.

Hope this helps ...

I've never heard of "Besamar Lines" and Euro Malta Express finished years ago. If you haven't got a web address, then they almost certainly don't exist.
Virtu Ferries are based in Malta so, naturally, their craft leaves there in the morning and returns in the evening.
There is an overnight service, mainly for lorries, run by MARESI (www.ma-re-si.com), but otherwise, there's no other ferry service.

I googled Besasmar Lines and two websites came up, both in Italian. It appears there is a boat of some sort beween Malta and Sicily--you may want to take a look. Both sites list a phone and fax number, 0931-978300 (phone) and 0931 978100 (fax).

dear members,
i'm from turkey and i'm planning to travel to Malta at the second term of August this year. i think that the cheapest is to get there by ferry, but i couldn't find any ferry from Turkey to Malta directly. Do you know any or maybe you can suggest one from Brindisi to Malta. Because, it is possible to get Brindisi from Cesme easily.
Anyone may help me?

An update on this posting from last June for those that are interested in getting to/seeing Malta while in Sicily...

I found on the Virtu Ferries website that they offer a complete "Malta Excursion" that leaves every Monday and Thursday from Pozzallo (port near Syracuse) to Malta and goes to Valletta/Mdina/St. Julians/Sliema. Departure is at 9:15 am, arr Malta (Valletta) 10:45 am, return departure from Malta at 6:45 pm, arrive back in Pozzallo at 8:15 pm. Prices for adults = € 95.00, children ages 2 - 12 = € 71.00, children under 2 = free.

This offers a nice alternative for those that want to see Malta while down in Sicily and close by. Yet you don't have to take a late ferry or stay overnight in Malta if choosing this option. I am going to take this excursion at the end of August myself...can't wait!
