Fee for returning rental car to airport?

Is there a fee if you return a rental car to the airport rental return as opposed to returning it in town somewhere?

If I stay in Erding at Best Western the night before flight home (afternoon flight)how should I handle dropping off car and getting to airport? Looking for cheap AND easy.

Suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is generally an extra fee for an airport dropoff.

Rental agencies usually doen't charge drop fees for stations within Germany.
If your agreement was to drop somewhere else and you want to change that now, that might be different.

I do not think so---airport pick-up yes, dropoff no.
I have stayed in Erding and done that drill---not hard at all.

I know there's usually a fee for pick-up at airport but I have been reading on here (old posts) & a few people said there was a drop fee if dropped at airport. So I thought I'd check.
Thanks all!

Hi T,

Used to was, you didn;t pay to drop off at the AP, only to pickup.

However, I am now seeing fees for both pickup and drop off at APs and at train stations.

You have to check with the rental agency.

National/citer charged us for Gare du Nord pickup and Orly dropoff.

In August, their web site said that both fees would be waived if we reserved before the end of the month, but that deal was not printed on the voucher, and they didn't honor it. Cost us about 80€ on top of the contract price.

My experience has been that if one picks the car up in the city (not at the airport) and drops it at the airport, there's no added fee. If you picked it up at the airport, and dropped either at the airport or in the city, there'd be a fee, perhaps $50 or so. That was the case in Paris, Frankfurt and Vienna, at least.
