Favorite Provence village?

Trying to decide an vlla in Provence. Like on in Cotignac and one in Ansouis. Will be 2 adults and 2 girls 9 and 12 in middle of August. Love renting houses but sometimes end up in the middle of nowhere. would like to be in village with some things for the girls to walk to like swimming pool, cafe and little shops.
Thanks

Ansouis has two restaurants and a couple of cafes, bakery, wine, and several artisans, an antique shop a linen shop and Cotignac also has a restaurants, a park and artisans.

Ansouis - great little village. And you will be near enough to other some other beautiful spots such as Lourmarin and Cucuron - plus the best ice cream in all of Provence is just nearby. Only thing lacking, however, would be a swimming pool which would come in very handy in August. There is a lovely little lake nearby, but you'd need to drive 10 minutes or so to get there.

No clue about Cotignac, sorry.

Now trying to decide between two lovely village homes. One is in Cotignac and the other is in Montfor-Sur-Argens near Brignoles. As far as transport the first is convenient to Avignon and the second to Nice. We will be coming to this area from London and renting a car and then leaving car and returning to Paris.
Thanks

My personal preference would be for the one closer to Nice, as that region of Provence is our favorite. But you would do well with either choice; both are good locations.

Where is the best ice cream in all Provence? Just curious. We'll be in that particular area in October and November.

Thanks.

Our favorite spots are in Vieux Nice, where there are two excellent ice-cream emporia. But another excellent one is in Avignon, down at the end of the large square near the Palais des Papes.

Then there's the one in Beaune, but I digress.

L'Art Glacier - on the route between Ansouis and Le Tour d'Aigue - their stuff is so good you can make a dinner of it! And they have a great outdoor sitting area with a fantastic view overlooking the south side of the Luberon. - Highly recommended.

Their web site is http://www.artglacier.com/
with address etc.

And I like the more rustic area nearer to Avignon where the people are more down to earth. Both areas are lovely but
very different.
