Excited- We stayed at Al Ponte Mocenigo for 3 nights last June, and I too would stay there again in a heartbeat. We had a "quad" room in the "annex" a building that backed up to the main hotel building. It was a king bed, with a daybed sofa and an additional extra twin bed. The room had plenty of space, a great walk in shower, and a pretty view looking over a little courtyard garden. There was also a lovely breakfast included each morning, juices, cappuccino, hot cocoa for the kids, cereals and other goodies. Free internet access too, but you have to ask for a password. We loved the area! Be sure to walk along the street leading away from the San Stae vaporetto stop-Santa Croce is a quiet little neighborhood, with affordable places to eat, and easy access to Rialto, and Cannareggio. If you will be there more than two days, get a Venice Card- you validate once, then ride the vaporetto as often as you like-then no location is too far. Enjoy!

Thank you for the location correction. I was researching by Google to try to help and obviously made a mistake in what I read.

suze,

Certainly it's closer to the train station than San Marco or Dorsoduro, but it is totally separate from it. I can understand your misunderstanding. San Stae IS just two stops own the Grand Canal from the train station, but is one of those less trafficked stops. Plus, the hoel location is quite close to restaurant favorites like La Zucca and Vecio Fritolin.

Danieli Hotel, I think this hotel is very romantic. I am still thinking of the that grilled fish from room service.

Have a great time.

Ca Maria Adele is an uppscale hotel in the Dorsoduro area across the Grande Canal from St. Marks square and beside the Salute church.
Perfect location, perfect accomodations and we shall be returning. This is the best recommendation of all.

Goddess:
It is, indeed...but please re-read the OP (who we are supposed to be trying to help)...nowhere do I see that they are interested in a $750 room. I'm sure the grilled fish from room service was superb.
