Some suggest the ferry experience~is it that much different from taking the ferry to Capri which we have done twice?”

Depends on the ferry. If you take SeaJet 2 on a day when the wind is strong and seas are rough it’s an experience you will wish to forget. If it’s the Zante ferry you can sit on the open deck with a drink in hand and chat with some veteran island hoppers. The Zante ferry sails through the Santorini caldera while the Sea Jets ferries detour around it. If it’s one of the Blue Star ferries, which don’t run in the Western Cyclades to Milos and Sifnos, it’s almost like sailing on a luxurious cruise liner. Have a look at the Blue Star Delos official ship’s video:

Hi all,

I wish I could have included a trip report for Greece but one month before we were to leave we had to cancel our trip. We moved from Charleston, SC to Chapel Hill, NC and were in the final stages of building a house when there was a major difficulty with our floor installer. Our rental lease could not be extended so therefore the cancellation of the trip. We are back on board for May with a few minor changes in the itinerary.

3 nights Santorini
3 nights Milos.
Fly to Athens and pick up rental at airport.
Drive to Meteora for 3 nights Any hotel recommendations?
Considering driving to
Corfu for 4 nights
2 nights at Nafplio
4 remaining nights in
Athens
Any suggestions for Corfu?

Really wanted to visit Patmos however we think that should be for another trip due to the logistics of getting there.
Thanks again for all your suggestions!

Zebac~enjoying your unique photos!

Pluf, thx for above. Your itinerary promises to deliver satisfaction and I'll be interested to hear your impressions. Patmos will be there for next time.
Btw, the 'Nyssos Kalymnos' ferry shown in my fotos was the same ship that author Jennifer Barclay (see above-mentioned book), included among her faves transiting among the isles.

Nafplio is great, but I'm not sure it's "drive across the country to spend two nights there" great. If you have two days between Corfu and Athens I think it would be more pleasant to stop somewhere en route. Galaxidi or Delphi are options, and I am sure there are dozens of others.

For Meteora, I preferred the village of Kastraki to the town of Kalambaka. I stayed at Kastelia, though it was a room with a kitchen and a courtyard rather than a proper hotel.

MichaelC, I love this phrase. Well-put and so useful about a variety of usages.
