We just got back from Dublin on Tueday and we paid about 3-4 Euros for a pint. Oddly enough, my husband didn't seem to mind since he was in Guinness Heaven. We live in England and I guess the price is comparable.

$5.00 (with tax and tip) for a 20 oz pint of good beer is better than what you can do in the US.

In our small town in GA a 12 oz beer is almost $3.50 with tax and tip.

I am not sure it applies as the same amount for booze and its hard as the tax is fixed into the price so we do not notice but its 21% in Ireland. NY is more expensive on many things.

Here in the hills of Indiana I could pay $3.50 inclusive for a 12 oz long neck but I don't. Bars are always having $1.50 long neck specials, $1.00 16oz. drafts of beer, $2.50 margarita night, etc.

All I have to do is pick the bar for its special that night. Well and have absolutely no standard as to what I'll toss back. After a while it's all just alcohol anyway.

I would never, ever seek out a bar just to be able to gulp down the pantherpiss that they foist off on a poor, untutored and ignorant public as beer.

To put things in perspective: a friend went to a nightclub in NYC this weekend where he ordered 2 mixed drinks and the bartender said: "That'll be $26 please". ouch...a $5 pint of beer is a steal in comparison!!!
