I didn't wait too long, 111op.

111op May 30th, 2006 04:13 PM

Thanks. I don't know the answer to this one. Was thinking "Madeleine," but I can't get the rest to fit, and I've not had the time to try to do more research.

cmt May 30th, 2006 04:38 PM

The first letter M is right, but that's definitely not it. Wrong country. (You used to try to predict what my clues might be about by jumping to conclusions about my interests. Remember?)

111op May 30th, 2006 04:46 PM

I think the candy is Italian -- I vaguely recall some thread about it here. I know that it wasn't Madeleine, but I was amused that there's actually a Romanesque church in Vezelay by that name that's actually famous. (Obviously there's the one in Paris.)

Right. I knew you could get it.

Clue: Many famous architects have designed a version of this object: 2 words (6, 6).

The second word looks like a word in English, so it's now accepted to refer to this object in English as a (6, 5) (as a bastardized form).

A famous American version of this object is an (5, 5). (The first word is a last name. The 3rd letter of the last name is "m".)

111op May 30th, 2006 05:08 PM

I feel like I should get a prize for being just a faithful player of this game. :-)

111op May 31st, 2006 02:09 AM

Hint: An exhibition in NYC is currently taking place on one famous American version of this object. It was designed by a husband-and-wife team. (5 letters in the last name, 3rd = "m")

starrsville May 31st, 2006 02:53 AM

eames?

starrsville May 31st, 2006 02:56 AM

Surely you are not being naughty!

It can't be -

Eames lounge (chair)

111op May 31st, 2006 03:39 AM

Yes.

Eames chair.

What about the other parts? Ok, lounge chair.

What the "original" is called?

You can take the next clue, starrsville.

starrsville May 31st, 2006 01:57 PM

Oh, geez. I didn't want to get it right. I don't know how to do the next clue.

I'll give it some thought and I'll post later tonight.

starrsville May 31st, 2006 01:58 PM

Anyone who wants to jump in with the next clue is more than welcome! :-)

yk2004 May 31st, 2006 02:53 PM

chaise longue?

111op May 31st, 2006 03:58 PM

You want to take the next clue, yk?

yk2004 May 31st, 2006 04:03 PM

I'll defer the honor to starrsville. :)

starrsville May 31st, 2006 04:04 PM

No, please! Go ahead yk!

111op May 31st, 2006 04:20 PM

J'attends.

Of course, it's nice that starrsville gives a clue. yk has given too many, but I know she is quick. :-)

yk2004 May 31st, 2006 04:36 PM

Okay, here it goes (starrsville - you still owe us one :) )

This artist (still alive) [6,9] created a series of sculptures. The theme of the sculptures is a certain creature [6 "s" is first letter].

The artist made 6 bronze casts of a particular one, titled [5].

One of the 6 casts can be found at [place: 10,6] in [city: 6].

This artist also won a coveted award [5,4] several years ago at a well-known art show.
