The "A" in Versailles is the first letter of the second word of the village. (9-2-5) So, it'll be 9-ax-5 |

And the last part was medics.

Ta da! You got it, cmt!
We visited this place on our D Day tour; very interesting. |
Name of town is made up of four words, having 3, 9, 2, and 7 letters. The fourth letter of the second word is the fifth letter of Angoville-au-Plain. The fifth letter of the last word is one of the Ls from Angoville.
This is a little Norman hilltown of ancient (Greek or Arab) origin. It’s in a green mountain chain called the __________ (7 letters, second is the E from Angoville) where many hazelnut trees and other fruit and nut trees grow. The name of the town comes from the saint’s name (second word in town’s name) of the town’s most famous church (the chiesa madre), plus the name of the valley (last word in town’s name) that the town overlooks. The patron saint’s day festival takes place in August (not the same saint whose name is part of the name of the town). The statue of this patron saint in another major church in town shows a black saint. This saint’s name was San _________ (8 letters, fifth is the G from Angoville). The town has an unusual ethno-anthropological museum of ________ (nine letters second is the E from Angoville) traditions. |

I must admit that my blogging is eating into the time I've for the games thread.
|
This is one YOU could figure out, 111op, by considering the source.
|
I'll try to take a look. I just booked my ticket to Bologna for Labor Day weekend. I'll top my other thread.
I'm going to pick your brains for advice, cmt. :-) |
You're giving me such an obvious hint, cmt. I did try to look at Basilicata, but I can't figure out anything. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. In the meantime I hope I'm not leading someone else on to a wild goose chase.
|
Not Basilicata, but definitely a place connected to me (even more so than Basilicata), which I've mentioned numerous times whenever there was an opportunity. (I know you follow that sort of thing.)
|
Oh, cmt, I don't stalk people in cyberspace. :-)
Actually I don't know what it is, but maybe I'll think about it tomorrow. I've to go now. |
Not stalking, but you are observant of patterns and quirks in people's Fodors posting behavior.
|
Maybe it's Sicily then?
|
cmt, you made it really easy with your hint.
When I typed in Sicily in google and a few searches later, what came up is a Fodors thread with your entry - complete with the answer. http://www.fodorstravel.com/forums/t...p;tid=34483311 The town is San Salvatore di Fitalia, in the Nebrodi Mountains (didn't you post a clue about the Nebrodi horses once?). The museum is on religious practices. The saint? I'm not 100% sure. San Calogero? |
100% correct
I love that town. If you search on Google, you can find some history and photos. |
This town (5) boasts a brand new concert hall (4,2,6) designed by (nationality: 5) architect (last name: 8). The architect's firm headquarters is in (city:9).
The architect's previos famous building is a (type of building:7) in (non-European city: 7). "a" from Fitalia is the last letter of all 3 words of the concert hall. |

You got it all, grandmere!

Sicily.... I should have thought of it. But my brain is automatically wired to think "Basilicata."
I guess you've a point about being observant and all, cmt -- I still don't think that I spend that much time reading the forum, so I guess whatever I am observing must be obvious. But you're observant too to see that I'm able to observe. :-) |
