Escorted Tour

We are interested in a escorted tour to Prague,Vienna and Budapest next spring. We are thinking of Brendan Tours. Has anyone travelled with them, any other suggestions would be appreciated.

It is my understanding that Berndan Tours are somehow exactly the same as Globus. We traveled on Globus in the past and there were many Brendan customers on the tour. Sorry not yet been to the places you name but they are on the list.

If you are interested in tours one idea is to check Affordabletours.com.which has a variety of companies and then you can also search on your own for websites for those specific companies to compare. Also check smartours.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Another (good) option is to investigate the OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel) tours. They are small in size and reasonably personal. It is NOT necessary to buy the air but you may want to. We did OAT for the cities you mention and were very pleased.

You also might investigate Grand Circle Travel (GCT). They are an excellent tour company (sister company to OAT) and we traveled with them to Prague, Budapest, Warsaw and Krakow last year. Their tour allowed us longer in each location than any of the other tours that we checked on. That made it possible for us to wander the cities on our own, which we like to do. We took public transportation and walked all over those cities - seeing sights and doing things that appealed to us.

We definitely prefer GCT and OAT to all of the other tour companies that we have traveled with in the past - including Trafalgar, Globus, Insight, and Pacific Delight. The tour directors for GCT and OAT have been superior to those from all of the other companies that we have traveled with.

We took a tour that included those cities (and a couple of others) through Globus in 2005. I do understand that there is a connection between Brendan and Globus. On the other Globus tour that we took, some of the others had booked through Brendan.

We were well satisfied with our tour.

We had also considered Grand Circle, but I hadn't been able to find any comments about them. On our tour, we talked with Grand Circle people who were staying in one of our hotels and they all seemed very satisfied. I've also since talked to someone that I work with and she has used Grand Circle/OAT and been very pleased.

We did book the last globus tour through affordabletours.com and received a small discount.

When we went on the two Globus tours, we tour the included half day city tours, but then went off on our own rather than taking the optional excursions. It was a very nice mix for us.

My parents enjoyed a Grand Circle tour recently that included Vienna and Budapest, it was based from a river small cruise ship mostly.
