How many days will you spend in Edinburgh?
Have you been anywhere in Europe before?
What are your interests?
Are you going anywhere else?
Do you want to drive or use public transport?
What guide books have you looked at and what has grabbed your attn?
If you give us more to go on we can be of some help

Thanks, we will be in Edinburgh 7 days before the wedding. I've been to Italy before (and my brother planned the whole trip). Were trying to plan where to go and it's overwhelming when your not sure of where to go and what to see. We haven't settled on transportation, but preferably would like to drive. Interest are varied. Would like to stay away from big cities, and see the coast. I've looked at different web sites. We were originally going to fly to Dublin, but my husband said it was to expensive. Alan, thanks I'll look at the two sites.

Why did your hubby think Dublin was expensive - relative to what? I personally don't really like Dublin but I have no idea what you like.
Are you spending the 7 days sightseeing in edinburgh or doing things for the wedding? I ask because I think that would be too long for me as Edinburgh is small. Do you arrive in Edinburgh? If not consider flying into London and spending some time there and then taking the train to edinburgh for the wedding.
You could rent a car after the wedding and explore the countryside, visit some distilleries etc...or drive south and visit the area around Hadrian's wall and the coast of Yorkshire.
Or you could fly into Manchester and rent a car and visit the yorkshire dales, moors, or the lake district before heading to Edinburgh.
So many options!
