Easy Jet???

Hey there, Fodorites!

I have a question: I found this unbelieveable rate from London to Madrid on the easyjet.com website another fodorite recommended. I've never heard of this airliner and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how good the company is, safety, service, seating, etc, etc.
Thanks!

Have flown with them a few times to Athens and Amsterdam. It is a 'cheap but cheerful' 'no frills' airline. The planes they use are fine and have a reasonable amount of leg room (compared to other cheap airlines) no drinks, snacks are included but can be bought on the plane. Ticketing is done electronically (although this may have changed due to current tight security) Generally I would say it's a bargain and worth every penny! Oh and they also fly into 'main' airports!

Jess,

Easyjet are a low cost carrier ( like Southwest airlines in the USA). To Madrid they fly from London Luton airport ( 30minutes? by rail from Kings Cross Thameslink station.)

Boarding: I think goes something like this: the earlier you check in the lower your number on the boarding card ( 1- 100 say)- aircraft are Boeing 737-300's. At the gate you will be called to board by numbers ie 1-30 then 1-60 etc with free seating on board so the early check in people wll have first choice of the seats.

Food & Drink: Buy it on board or bring your own.

Safety: Have not had an accident since start up.

Thanks so much! I feel a lot better. I found a roundtrip flight for 50 pounds total to Madrid and I couldn't believe it. Thanks Jane and Gregory!

We flew Easyjet from Edinburgh to Amsterdam at the end of September. It was fine, very similar to Southwest. One note- we thought they would board in groups of 30 (like Southwest), but for our flight, they opened it up all at once so people in the know headed for the front of the line right away. It was fine though, the plane wasn't very crowded and I'm not picky about my seat. If you are, pay attention since they may board all at once instead of in numbered groups. The flight itself was great, 35 minutes total, 737 jet, friendly crew (you pay for your drinks/snacks, so get them at the airport).

Easyjet are one of a number of low cost airlines flying out of the UK.

Others include Ryanair, go and Buzz.

In the light of recent events, all the main carriers have great deals.

We've flown with them and have been quite satisfied. It's no frills, rather like getting a bus.The earlier you book, the cheaper the fare. In my experience, you board in groups in order of checkin but families with small children get priority.

I've flown a few times with them, and haven't had any problems with the flight itself. Boarding was very easy, and the flight was pleasant.

I did have some trouble with customer service when cancelling one flight and changing the dates on another, due to a family illness. I had assumed that by cancelling my one flight, I was out of luck. So I was pleasantly surprised when I told I would receive a refund, less a processing fee. A few months later, after not receiving the refund, I called and was told there were never any refunds and that I never would have been told there were. I was just annoyed that I was told one thing by one easyjet rep and one thing by another.
